The Play and Wave Buddyphones, like their wired siblings, are highly adaptable, appear robust and are easy to clean. They also offer a quality fit. Technically, both children’s headphones score well thanks to the support of Bluetooth 4.2 and a good range and a well-considered 3-button remote for iOS and Android systems. A long battery life can also be expected with both models, with 14 hours of operation for the Play model and over 20 hours for the heavier Wave version, which is also dustproof and waterproof. The Play model, however, offers an overall better quality of sound.
The Onanoff BuddyPhones Cosmos+ do not offer adequate hearing protection in wired mode, while the children’s headphones via Bluetooth have adjustable loudness limitation. On the plus side, the long-lasting battery and the high, stable Bluetooth range are good points. The support of a high-quality audio codec and convincing sound quality with good speech intelligibility are also positives. These robust, foldable over-ears are delivered with a high-quality accessory package that includes a hardshell case for transport.
Die Buddyphones Standard, Explore und InFlight zeichnen sich durch eine hohe Anpassungsfähigkeit aus, wirken robust sowie pflegeleicht und bieten einen guten Sitz. Ein Manko stellt aus meiner Sicht das kurze Kabel der drei Modelle dar, welches insbesondere beim gemeinsamen Hören über den Audiosplitter wenig Bewegungsfreiheit zulässt. Lobenswert ist hingegen die implementierte Lautstärkebegrenzung der Kinderkopfhörer, welche das Gehör vor Schädigungen durch zu laute Pegel schützt und beim InFlight-Modell dem Alter und der Hörumgebung entsprechend angepasst werden kann. Dabei mangelt es den Buddyphones klanglich an Offenheit und Klarheit, um höheren Ansprüchen gerecht zu werden. Ein akzeptables Mittelmaß wird jedoch geboten.
