With their open clip design, the Edifier LolliClip allow interaction with the environment while offering high wearing comfort. They provide a secure, sports-ready fit without exerting pressure, which benefits sensitive ears. Handling is also simple thanks to the clip-on/clip-off mechanism, and the headphones are IP56 dust- and water-resistant, providing protection in rain.

Battery life

In standard mode, the Edifier LolliClip can achieve just under nine hours of playback at higher volume when using the AAC format. With noise cancellation activated, a realistic figure is five hours and 45 minutes.

In addition, the earbuds can be fully recharged in the case four times, resulting in a total runtime of more than 44 hours in standard mode and almost 29 hours in ANC mode.

Fast charging provides enough capacity for three hours and 45 minutes of use (without ANC) after just 15 minutes, while a full charge of the Edifier LolliClip takes about 60 minutes. The case battery can be replenished in 90 minutes using the supplied USB-C to USB-A charging cable. Wireless Qi charging is not supported.

Bluetooth specs

The Edifier LolliClip support Bluetooth 5.4, Google Fast Pair, and multipoint connections with two devices simultaneously. Available audio codecs include SBC, AAC, and LDAC. Additionally, the earbuds feature a low-latency gaming mode for PC and mobile gaming, as well as for watching series and films.

Operation

Thanks to automatic channel adaptation, the Edifier LolliClip can be worn on either the left or right ear. The touch-sensitive area between the end pieces is used to control playback, handle calls, and skip forward. Noise cancellation can also be activated, and modes can be switched between standard, gaming, and Spatial Audio.

Additional functions, such as volume control or voice assistant activation, can be assigned via the app. However, touch control is limited to a total of four assignable functions, which may be seen as a drawback. Available gestures are limited to double- and triple-taps. There is no manual on/off function, meaning the case is always required. Complementing the touch controls, a wear detection feature is included, which can be enabled or disabled via the app.

Edifier ConneX app

Sound control via the Android and iOS app offers four modes: “Classic” (the default setting), “Bass Boost,” “Vocal,” and “Treble Boost.” Custom settings cannot be created, as there is no EQ section for these open-ear headphones. However, the volume of audio feedback can be adjusted in 15 steps, as can the sensitivity of the touch controls.

Additionally, adaptive noise cancellation, gaming mode, and Spatial Audio can be enabled or disabled. A drying function is also provided, which uses vibrations to help shake off sweat or moisture, while a search function can emit a tone to help locate the earbuds. Other features include a configurable timer and firmware updates. On compatible Android devices, the LDAC codec can also be activated.

Heart rate and blood oxygen

The Edifier ConneX app can also capture health-specific data, although registration is required. Once registered, users can manually measure heart rate and blood oxygen levels. The data can then be displayed in daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly overviews and summaries.

Although test results appeared realistic, the manufacturer clearly states that these open-ear headphones are not and should not be considered medical devices. Automatic, regular monitoring of these values is not currently possible.

Call clarity

The open-ear design of the Edifier LolliClip provides a natural conversation experience by allowing you to hear your own voice. Three AI-powered microphones on each side ensure clear and distinct voice transmission, which is perceived as pleasant by the other party. Wind noise filtering works well, with even strong gusts fully suppressed. However, background noise suppression is inconsistent, resulting in fragmented transmission, which can make conversations in loud environments tiring for the other party, even though communication remains possible.

Noise cancellation (ANC)

In the low-frequency range, the adaptive noise cancellation of the Edifier LolliClip delivers effective reduction, although attenuation is otherwise minimal. Voices are slightly dampened, but keyboard noises, for example, remain largely unchanged. A noticeable background noise must also be tolerated, which can be audible during quieter passages, even during playback. ANC mode also impacts the sound, adding more fullness and slightly boosting the bass.

Spatial Audio

The more spatial presentation of the Edifier LolliClip can be used with or without head tracking. Calibration provides smooth head tracking on the horizontal plane without major delay. The virtual stage is positioned slightly deeper in the room, and the listening space feels more expansive. However, playback sounds noticeably more diffuse and unbalanced, which can also reduce speech clarity in dialogues.

Sound

The default “Classic” tuning of the Edifier LolliClip offers an appealingly spacious sound with a clean and well-structured presentation. Due to the open design, there is no deep bass (see guide), which limits suitability for club music. Apart from this, bass reproduction is strong and adds fun to the listening experience, with the lower range having good substance.

The midrange particularly benefits from the wide, open presentation, which works well for live broadcasts or concert recordings and offers good localisation. Vocals sound pleasantly natural, slightly forward without being overly close, ensuring the overall balance remains intact.

The treble is present and lively without sounding excessive at normal listening levels. At higher volumes, however, the treble can become slightly sharp, and sibilants may be more pronounced. The Edifier LolliClip have relatively high volume reserves, allowing for compensation in louder environments.

For a more fun-oriented profile with a more direct sound and stronger bass, the “Bass Boost” setting can be used. The “Vocal” mode enhances vocal presence, making them softer and warmer. The “Treble Boost” mode offers a leaner and brighter playback option.

Conclusion

The Edifier LolliClip impress with a spacious, tidy sound and a versatile feature set that includes heart rate and blood oxygen measurement. Some compromises must be made with adaptive noise cancellation, which is mainly effective in the low-frequency range and comes with noticeable background noise. Additionally, the touch controls on these weather-resistant earbuds are limited to four functions, which may be seen as a limitation.
