The True Wireless in-ear headphones Beyerdynamic Amiron 300 offer wireless charging, ANC and sound detail for everyday listening and sport.

With the Beyerdynamic Amiron 300, the renowned manufacturer from Heilbronn presents versatile True Wireless in-ear headphones that can inspire music lovers as well as frequent travellers and even athletes. In our test, you’ll find out how the active noise cancellation of the in-ears performs, how the Amiron 300 are tuned sound-wise and who they are suitable for.

Modern accessories

The Beyerdynamic Amiron 300 in-ears come with a compact charging case in which the in-ears can be charged and stored safely for transport. A USB-C cable is included to charge the small case. As it also supports the Qi standard, the charging case can also be charged wirelessly. It enables the in-ears to achieve a total runtime of up to 28 hours. Finally, five pairs of silicone ear tips in various sizes are included. They ensure an optimal fit of the in-ears and effective passive noise isolation by adapting to different ear canal sizes.

In addition, the Beyerdynamic app is available for free download. It not only allows for software updates but also for adjusting equaliser settings and creating individual sound profiles. The included accessories are therefore completely up to date.

Appealing design in a compact size

The space-saving charging case of the Beyerdynamic Amiron 300 comes in matte black. It looks stylish but runs the risk of showing fingerprints or scratches over time. The in-ears themselves are black and red, giving them a sporty look. The shape and overall design of the earbuds is tasteful and modern. Each earbud weighs just 4.4 grams and is just over 2 cm in length. As a result, the in-ears are both stylish and compact. All components are, of course, flawlessly manufactured.

The Beyerdynamic Amiron 300 is available in black or cream. The colour of the headphones and the case match in each version.

Multipoint connection meets hi-res codec

The technical data of the Beyerdynamic Amiron 300 reveals that they use dynamic drivers with a frequency range from 20 Hz to 40 kHz. The wireless connection is based on Bluetooth 5.3. This means that the headphones also support multipoint connections, allowing two devices to be connected to the Amiron 300 at the same time.

The supported codecs are SBC and AAC, as well as the hi-res codec LDAC, which can deliver high-resolution sound. This codec must be activated via the Beyerdynamic app and becomes available after a restart of the in-ears.

A total of six built-in microphones work to support active noise cancelling and also provide excellent voice quality during calls. With ANC enabled, battery life is up to 7 hours. Without active noise cancelling, the in-ears can be used for up to 10 hours on a single charge before needing to be placed back in the case. With multiple recharges in the case, they offer an additional 28 hours of playback.

Handling and wearing comfort

Whether with the charging case or as a pair of in-ears in the wild: the Beyerdynamic Amiron 300 are delightfully lightweight. Their fit is optimal for wearing them securely and comfortably for long periods without pressure or a disturbing sense of weight. When used with the right ear tips, they provide good isolation from ambient noise.

The touch controls are reliable and respond quickly. However, a critical moment is when inserting and removing the in-ears. Since the touch surfaces are relatively large and respond very quickly, the user needs to develop a technique for grasping the in-ears with pointed fingers in order to remove them without accidentally triggering a touch command.

The learning curve for using the controls is shallow. Once read in the quick guide and tested, the commands for controlling the Amiron 300 can be used intuitively. Naturally, the active voice assistant can also be called up by pressing a button.

The headphones feature wear detection with automatic pause function, which is activated as soon as at least one of the in-ears is removed. Lastly, the Beyerdynamic Amiron 300 are IP54 certified, meaning they are splash-proof. They can therefore be worn even in light rain, and even sweaty workouts won’t faze them. The overall handling of the Amiron 300 contributes to a positive user experience.

Numerous features controllable via app

The Beyerdynamic app provides access to many details of the Amiron 300. In addition to five different pre-set EQ settings, the equaliser can also be customised and saved as personal presets. Furthermore, the touch gestures can be reassigned to different commands via the app than those set by default. Those who want to use the headphones for gaming or watching films or series will be pleased with the ability to activate a low-latency mode in the app.

Voice prompts can also be modified. In addition to choosing between English or German, it is possible to select for each prompt whether it should be active. The sidetone feature can also be activated via the app. This ensures that during calls with the Beyerdynamic Amiron 300, the user’s voice is picked up by the integrated microphones and played back through the in-ears. This allows the user to hear their own voice clearly during a call despite good noise isolation and to speak freely.

Precision across all frequencies

The sound of the Beyerdynamic Amiron 300 is highly dependent on correct insertion. The manufacturer’s advice to twist the in-ears into the ear canal must be followed and may require some practice. Otherwise, the headphones won’t deliver good bass performance.

When properly inserted, the Amiron 300 sound brilliant and detailed. The treble and the ultra-high frequency range sound open and spacious. The upper mids are prominent. Without the equaliser activated, this results in the vocal frequency range standing out, both for singing and speech. Vocals are therefore superbly intelligible at low to moderate listening levels. However, at higher volumes, this can lead to listening fatigue.

How balanced the sound of the headphones is becomes evident when listening to heavy guitar music. The audio signal does not sound sharp and different instruments can be clearly distinguished even in a densely layered midrange. Sub-bass is well perceptible, but relatively restrained. The mid-bass is also modest.

As precise as their signal resolution and treble reproduction is their dynamic response. The overall bandwidth is broad and lively. This also results in good depth imaging. Transients are reproduced with pinpoint accuracy. Therefore, classical music fans will also enjoy these, expecting a complex and dynamically nuanced playback from in-ears. The ANC mode also impresses. In the test, it reliably filtered out fan noise and allowed full concentration on the audio playback.

Conclusion

The Beyerdynamic Amiron 300 are True Wireless in-ears for music lovers who seek a high-quality mix of design, functionality and sound quality. They impress from looks to wearing comfort to sound, offering a host of up-to-date features such as hi-res codec, ANC, wear detection, multipoint connection and wireless charging case. In addition, many features can be fine-tuned and customised via the app.

For intuitive use of the Beyerdynamic Amiron 300, the responsive touch surfaces require the user to get accustomed to handling the in-ears. Correct insertion into the ear should also be practised to unlock their best sound. That sound is characterised by restrained bass, high detail, brilliance and precise dynamics. Music lovers seeking such a sound profile will find the Beyerdynamic Amiron 300 to be high-quality in-ears with a suitable price-performance ratio, reliable for everyday use – whether at home, in the office, on the go or during sports.
