With the NeoBuds Plus, Edifier offers hybrid, wireless in-ears that support Bluetooth 5.4 and premium audio codecs LDAC and LHDC. The environmental control is also well-equipped, with three ANC modes, wind noise suppression, and an adjustable transparency mode.

The Edifier NeoBuds Plus retain the brand’s distinctive look with their striking, wide stems, seamlessly continuing the design language. While the housings may not look particularly delicate, the fit is extremely comfortable, and at six grams per side, the weight is hardly noticeable.
With a total of seven different sizes of eartips to choose from, the earphones can be precisely adapted to the ears, which has a positive effect on sound quality and stability. For outdoor activities and sports, the system is also equipped with dust- and water-resistant construction in accordance with IP54.
Battery life
In standard mode, the Edifier NeoBuds Plus can achieve a runtime of nine hours when using the AAC format at a high listening volume. Using maximum noise cancellation, you can expect around six and a half hours. The earbuds are fully recharged in 50 minutes, while a 15-minute quick charge provides enough power for three and a half hours (without ANC).
The charging case can fully recharge the in-ears three times, plus a fourth time with around four hours of remaining runtime (without ANC), resulting in a total of almost 40 hours in standard mode and a good 28 hours with ANC.
The battery reserve of the Edifier NeoBuds Plus is also restored within 60 minutes using the supplied USB-C to USB-A charging cable. The case can also be wirelessly charged via Qi.
Bluetooth specs
In addition to Bluetooth version 5.4, the Edifier NeoBuds Plus support Google Fast Pair for quickly connecting to Android devices and multipoint connections. With SBC, AAC, LDAC and LHDC 5.0, the range of audio codecs is broad. The feature set is completed by a low-latency gaming mode for computer or mobile games and for watching films.
Operation
The pressure-sensitive stem controls of the wireless Edifier NeoBuds Plus can be customised to suit personal preferences. Single presses are reserved for controlling playback and handling calls, but double and triple presses or press-and-hold gestures can be assigned to different functions via the app.
By default, track skipping forwards and backwards and switching between standard, ANC and ambient modes are set, but the app allows expansion of functions. Options include volume control, activating the voice assistant or enabling gaming mode. Switching to theatre mode (see below) is not possible from the stems, nor is manually turning the earphones on or off.
In general, the stem controls are comfortable to use thanks to the broader design, and the sensitivity can be adjusted in 15 steps. However, the pressure-sensitive area is not tactilely marked with an indentation, which may feel unfamiliar and was handled much better in models like the Edifier NeoDots.
Another feature of the Edifier NeoBuds Plus is wear detection, which can be turned on or off as desired. Single-ear use in mono mode is also supported.
Edifier ConneX app
For sound adjustment, the app (Android and iOS) offers three preset sound profiles: “Classic” (default sound), “Dynamic”, and “Vocal”. Selecting “Customized” opens a 4-band EQ for personal settings, which can be saved as presets. An integrated share function allows exchanging these settings.
Noise control gives access to ANC modes “Low”, “Medium”, and “High”, so noise cancelling can be adapted to different environments. A wind noise reduction mode is also available for outdoor activities. Ambient mode amplification can be set in seven intensity levels.
Other settings include timer, case lighting (with eight colours for a “Knight Rider” effect), switching between standard, gaming, and theatre modes, and enabling/disabling multipoint. A search function can play a tone to help find the earphones. Firmware updates, playback control, and volume adjustment are also possible, with the option to configure hi-res codecs on Android devices.
Call clarity
Three AI-assisted beamforming microphones with ENC (Environmental Noise Cancellation) on each side ensure clear voice transmission and largely suppress wind noise. Stronger gusts may be faintly audible to the other party and can make the voice sound less smooth.
Loud background noise is not reduced as much, so busy street noise can affect voice clarity. With typical background noise, however, communication is trouble-free, with the voice remaining in the foreground.
Noise cancellation (ANC) and ambient mode
The hybrid noise cancelling of the Edifier NeoBuds Plus is especially effective in the low-frequency range. Even in low mode, the results are impressive, with noticeable improvement at each step. Voices are only slightly attenuated at first, but in high mode they are significantly reduced.
In the high-frequency range, complex noises such as construction or traffic are also reliably reduced.
ANC modes affect sound differently: from “Low” to “High”, bass reproduction becomes noticeably leaner. From medium level upward, a slight background hiss is present, which becomes more noticeable in high mode and when wind noise reduction is enabled.
In ambient mode, outside sound amplification is strong enough to allow conversation even at the lowest setting when playback is paused. Higher levels are excellent for hearing the surroundings while listening to music, but the top settings have a noticeable background hiss that can affect quieter passages.
Theatre mode
The theatre mode offers a more spacious presentation with a set-back soundstage, making it ideal for films, series, or gaming. However, when using this mode, multipoint and premium codecs are disabled, limiting use to mobile devices. As the mode can currently only be activated via the app, it cannot be used when watching content on a laptop or desktop unless updated in the future.
Sound
The hybrid construction of the Edifier NeoBuds Plus combines a dynamic 10 mm driver and a balanced armature driver, working together harmoniously. In Classic mode (default), the bass is full-bodied, extending deep and adding fun to bass-heavy tracks.
The tuning offers a spacious presentation with well-organised mids, integrating vocals naturally into the mix. The perspective provides appealing depth for the price range. Highs are neither timid nor aggressive and remain smooth even at higher volumes, with sibilance handled well.
Dynamic mode aims for a punchy, direct sound. The sub-bass has more substance, the mids are warmer, and vocals are more prominent. Highs are livelier and more accentuated without becoming harsh.
Vocal mode is warm and forgiving, with a bass profile similar to Classic mode and a stronger midrange presence, giving voices more body—especially pleasing for spoken content like audiobooks or podcasts.
Conclusion
The Edifier NeoBuds Plus stand out with their clean, powerful sound and support for high-resolution audio codecs. Their noise cancelling is also impressive, and the weatherproof true wireless in-ears are equipped with multipoint and a low-latency gaming mode. The ambient mode could be improved, as higher intensity levels introduce noticeable background hiss.
